1. Inspection
We start by performing a thorough inspection of your home- Identifying areas of activity, active rodent entrances and potential rodent entrances. We also will make a positive ID on what type of rodent you are dealing with- Roof Rat, House Mouse or Norway Rat
2. Action Inside
Insight Pest management will seal the holes noted and institute a “Trap-out “ in the affected area. This is an intensive, three week program where we are at your property two times per week, checking the traps and working the trapping program. Some situations call for non-toxic tracking powder to reveal where the hidden access is. Additional products like natural rodent repellents are also used at this stage, depending on the features of your home and contributing factors.
3. Action Outside
Now we really start to win and control the exterior population with our Outside Rodent Program. Based on the size of your property and contributing factors such as landscaping and roof type, we will place rodent control stations in a perimeter to control rodents in an on-going defense. There are multiple weapons to use including trapping, monitoring devices and California approved materials.

Mice, Rats, and other Rodent F.A.Q
Customer participation is a massive factor in controlling commensal rodents in structures. Controlling vegetation that is touching the house, removing dropped fruit, containing/removing outside bird feeders, Cleaning up standing water and exterior clutter. These are all items that when performed, assist in preventing rodents from living and breeding on your property. Other factors for controlling rodents include setting up the proper amount of stations in the area for control as well as the proper frequency to service the program.
We see ourselves as stewards of the environment, we are family oriented and want to enhance the environment we leave for the next generation The recent passing of the California Ecosystems Protection Act means that the use of second generation anticoagulants is now prohibited. Here at Insight Pest Management, we use only the state approved materials when absolutely necessary. We offer a wide array of rodent control programs such as trapping, deterrents and use of the Good Nature A24 trap – a non-chemical solution to exterior rodents.
A major part of rodent remediation is assessing and potentially replacing your attic insulation due to contamination. Rodents carry and harbor diseases such as Hanta virus, Typhus, Hemorrhagic Fever, Leptospirosis, Lyme Disease. Removing the nesting areas and accumulated feces in void spaces on your home is critical in preventing exposure to these illnesses. At Insight Pest Management, we remove the existing insulation, using a truck mounted machine vacuum up all of the rodent droppings and materials, sanitize the area with a heavy duty industrial sanitizer/deodorizer, seal any new areas that became visible and then lay new, R-30/38 Rolled Batten insulation in the affected areas. These qualify for energy rebates from the power company as well as preserve and enhance the integrity of your home.
Beware the toilet- Rodents can and will swim up sewer lines, swim through flooded access and access hidden underwater conduits. Is anyone else picturing a James Bond rat? That’s what we are up against!
Vomit Free- Rats physically do not throw up or belch. The barrier between stomach and esophagus is too powerful for them to over-come in order to regurgitate. This is important in several types of control measures and understanding what foods attract.
Getting jiggy with it! Rapid reproduction- an adult female rat, under the right conditions, can have as many as 15 Litters per year. Mice on the other hand can have new litters of 6 or so babies every 3 weeks! This rapid reproduction means a small problem can explode into a massive infestation before you even know it.
Is that you who smells?- Rodents do not groom or clean their fur-ewww! Often times, frequent rodent access has dark stains against walls and surfaces. Heavy rodent infestation can be identified by the heavy urine and feces smell that comes with it.
